About Humrahi Foundation

Humrahi Foundation is a group of like-minded people who believe that every child is an individual person with a unique identity.

We firmly believe that the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), formed in 1989, gifted essential rights to children, and India is equally committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its children. The Constitution of India provides various important provisions to address the vulnerabilities faced by children and support their right to protection. Article 15(3) of the Constitution guarantees special attention to children through compulsory and affirmative laws and policies that safeguard their rights.

For Humrahi Foundation, it is of utmost priority that children develop in a healthy environment with protection from all forms of abuse and have adequate participation in matters related to them. This involves providing age-appropriate information, enabling them to realize their complete potential and contribute effectively to the social, cultural, and economic life of our society.

India is home to 472 million children under the age of 18 years, accounting for 39% of the total population (Census 2011). While working with various stakeholders such as teachers, social workers, and community workers in India, we have identified that awareness about "Child Rights" among society appears to be quite low. Therefore, Humrahi Foundation is committed to its vision of “Building a child-centred world where every child enjoys their rights with dignity and respect.” and its mission, To amplify children’s voices in society by mobilising children, families, communities, and organisations; ensuring healthy living, holistic development, active participation, and the dignified protection of every child’s rights.
